Even though he’s only 3, my son has always been pretty practical. His twin sister likes to dress up like princesses and butterflies and other fantasy but his interests are more rooted in reality. Last year, he was a fireman for Halloween. This year, he’s going to be a train engineer in a RTW costume.
Today is my stop on the Magnificient Wizards Blog Tour (hosted by Made for Little Gents). Instead of making a costume that might not get the love mommy made deserves, I decided to make him a Halloween themed shirt.
I used the Himalaya shirt from Puperita. I’m quite a fan of my little man in collars and this knit top has the advantage of not using a placket so, for a collared top, it sews up rather quickly. The top yoke pieces that I’ve made in blue cotton lycra are fully lined so the collar can lay open and hide any raw edges. The sleeves and the bottom of the bodice are single layers.
This is a slightly looser version than the one I’ve made before (here on Instagram) but perfect because he is going through some intense growing spurts.
I think this ghost jersey fabric is my favorite Halloween print ever. I bought it last year from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. This year, they’ve expanded to printing their Halloween designs on double brushed poly and I’m excited to sew up that new base too. They always have the very best prints without the price tag of customs.
