Digging into the Kamp Shirt

If you scroll to the home screen of my blog, you’ll notice my little dude doesn’t have nearly the mommy made that sister and I do. So, I was happy to dive into the Kamp Shirt as part of the Eli Monster Back to School Blog Tour. (Please see the list of patterns at the end that are part of the Back to School Sale, including the Kamp shirt.)

I absolutely love how the yoke is completely enclosed. As it is a kid’s top and won’t really be worn forever, I am not so keen on taking time for finishes like french seams, so I appreciate that I can sew this up a bit faster than something more detailed.

I used this quilting cotton fabric from Joann’s and some yellow buttons from Wal-Mart. The quilting cotton is rather stiff so I’ll pick something with a slightly softer drape next time.

I also used a yellow lining fabric for the inside of the yoke. It is from my stash and a mystery shop from (likely) ancient days.

I used a dark chambray as a pocket accent. My machine has one size of letter stitches so I was able to type out my son’s name to personalize the pocket.

I recently got a new sewing machine and its automatic buttonhole maker is fantastic. My old machine had the feature but couldn’t do two in a row – – – EVER! These came out perfectly and brother has been wearing this with so much love.

Please check out the other stops on the blog tour for more beautiful creations by my talented friends:
September 15: Seams Normal and A Random Knack
September 16: Threadistry
September 17: She Who Sews and Frullemieke

All week the patterns featured in this blog tour are on sale for $7!

***As an Eli Monster Brand Ambassador, I received this pattern in exchange
for sewing it
, but my opinions are fully my own. This blog post contains
affiliate links for which I receive a small commission on any sales.
This helps support my growing fabric collection and is much appreciated.***
