I lived in Maine as a kid and the changing leaves and apple cider were some of the best parts of the year. I didn’t grow up with a very deep closet but back to school always meant new clothes which was always thrilling. So, for the Rebecca Page Turning the Page: Sewing for the Changing Seasons blog tour, my goal was to bring that same thrill to my kiddos.
Another Dreamy Drape
I tested the Dreamy Drape pattern (bundle, ladies, girls, or dolly) when it was first released and have made several versions since. One of my favorites was made from yellow sweater knit. Check out the blog post here. that one was one of my favorites. I hadn’t sewn the v-hem version until now.
I had tons of this pink lightly striped jersey and I added pink cotton lycra for the neckband and cuffs. The lace at the bottom is what makes this version a little extra special for my miss. I have yards upon yards of stretch and woven lace from a Knitpop bundle that I always forget about.
I simply turned up the hem per the instructions, then added the lace on the front side and coverstitched it on, attaching the lace and finishing the hem in one sweet step. I’m in love with this sweet embellishment.
I love the V-hem version because it really does move beautifully and she thinks it feels like a dress (a very important pattern feature when you’re 3!).
The First Comfy Cowl
I love sewing with knits and I love Rebecca Page patterns so I’m in complete shock that this is the first time I’ve gotten around to sewing the Comfy Cowl (bundle, kids, ladies). Mind blown!
It sews up similarly to a basic knit top: it has a back, a front, cuffs, and a kangaroo pocket. Buuuuut then Rebecca got crazy and added the biggest coolest cowl ever. When worn down, you have a snuggly cowl. When worn up, you have the hippest hood EVER.
This pattern was made for all the little people in your life and has a corresponding ladies version with the same amazing fit and cowl.
This was my first time sewing with Raspberry Creek’s French terry. They use cotton rather than polyester and/or rayon. It feels a bit stiff when you first get it in the mail but it washes up nicely and I hear it keeps softening over time. It was lovely to sew with as well, nice and stable and the geometric print is pretty cool. The two different shades of gray are both cotton lycra from Knitpop.
This photo was taken right before I told them there would be gummy bears after the photo shoot!
