I recently helped the Bella Sunshine Designs team to test the new Sophia pattern. It is knit top, tunic, and dress for both ladies (to size 30) and girls (to size 12). It is a special treat to find such inclusive size ranges because my daughter is in baby sizes and I’m in the plus range and we’re total suckers for mommy and me anything. (I’ll soak that up for as long as it lasts!). The pattern really showcases those drapey knits. Talk about twirl factor!
I love that there are only two main pieces (front and back) and bands but that I’m still able to achieve a fitted bust area with that gorgeous A-line swing skirt.
This sews up very quickly because there are so few pieces. But, there are a few things you may want to pay a little extra attention to before you start press that pedal to the floor.
- Blending. Getting a custom fit by blending between sizes is always important. This one was a bit tricky because of the gorgeous racerback but the BSD blending videos on youtube make it a total cinch. They have an upcoming blog post planned about this topic too so stay tuned to their feed!
- Armband placement. Because of the nature of the racerback, you’re not installing the armbands by simply quartering like you may in other patterns. The armband and back pattern pieces have corresponding notches so everything lays flat at the end.
Grab your Sophia today! The sale ends July 18th, 2018 at midnight EST. There also an additional coupon code in the Bellas Sunshine Designs PDF Patterns facebook group but its only good for Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
***I received these patterns in exchange for helping during testing. My thoughts are my own. This review contains affiliate links for which I receive a small commission on any sales. This helps support my ridiculous fabric collection and is much appreciated.***
